I think for those unfamiliar with web 2.0 technologies this was a wonderful program. It allowed participants to learn and explore on their own, but also see other participants thoughts and concerns as well.
I was familiar with almost all the 23 Things, except Glogster and Bloglines. Hopefully I will continue to use Bloglines in future....I cannot say the same for Glogster. Just wasn't a fan!

Thing #21 - Links of Videos and Podcasts
This is a link to ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in the Morning show. They talk about everything going on in sports, and are pretty funny. There are both videos and podcasts on their website

Thing #20 - Add RSS Feed for Podcasts
I added a RSS feed for podcasts on NPR Books to my bloglines account. Was this what we were suppose to do?? It's now listed on my blogroll.

Thing #10 - Rollyo
The Rollyo site was down for maintenance back in week 4 so just getting back to it now! Below is the searchroll I created for Downtown Lancaster.
Thing #19 - YouTube - Surprised Kitty (Original)
I love YouTube because you can find a video of just about anything....like old episodes of the 90's TV game show Funhouse. Who doesn't want to watch that?? The downfall of YouTube is the amount of time you can waste searching and watching videos. Before you know it an hour has past. Procrastinators beware!
I chose this video because it makes me laugh!

Thing #18 - Online Library Catalog
One feature that I find useful, and I think not many people know about, is My Reading List History. My Reading List History creates a list of material that I've previously checked out. Often patrons come up to the desk asking, "Did I check this book out before?" but once the books are checked in they are immediatley taken off the patrons account; so library staff has no way of knowing what patrons have previously checked out. This is a great feature that allows patrons to keep track of what they have read.
Thing #15 and #16 - Wikis
LOVE WIKIS.....LOVE'EM! My job has become 10 times simpler since creating the library staff wiki. I no longer have to send out emails, post memos, or chase library staff members around to ensure everyone on staff knows about policy/procedure changes, meetings, or programs. I think it is a wonderful way for library employees to communicate with each other. The wiki also serves as a central location for circ staff to store our gazillion number of forms.
One way to use wikis is when planning an event. My friend created a wiki when planning a bachelorette party in Las Vegas. It was great way to not only brainstorm, but also gather everyone's RSVPs, contact information, and travel itineraries.

Thing #14 Tagging and Del.icio.us
Library patrons who use the computers at the library should find Del.icio.us extremely valuable. Each time they come to library they could be assigned a different computer; so having bookmarks stored in a central location would be a time saver for them. I on the other hand am either using my work computer or laptop, so I utilize my favorites button. Don't think I'll be using much of Del.iciou.us in the future.
Not a huge fan of tagging my stuff; but find other people's tags useful when searching.

This is one of the tackiest things I have ever made, but it is what it is....couldn't really think of anything more creative to glog about!

Thing #7 - RSS Feeds
This is the first time I have taken advantage of RSS feeds. I normally would subscribe to email newsletters, which tend to clog up my inbox so Bloglines is a wonderful alternative!

Thing #6 - Aruba Fire in the Sky

Aruba Fire in the Sky
Originally uploaded by Paul_Wheeler
While exploring Flickr I found this picture of a gorgeous Aruba sunset. I have traveled to many different places, but no sunsets compare to the ones I've seen in Aruba. Every night the sunset is beautiful, and different from the night before. I can't wait to return!
This picture has motivated me to plan a winter getaway to some place warm. I need to escape the cold weather and snow!
